Seeing Luke 10 In Action
This past May my wife and I traveled to South East Asia. I taught church planters on two different Islands about praying with authority and preparing for the spiritual battle. It was a wonderful opportunity to equip courageous followers of Christ who were reaching out to several different unreached people groups. We took a brief get away with our missionary friends who hosted us in their home on a third island. I witnessed the Kingdom truths of Luke 10 in our visit with them.
Five years ago Kevin began a relationship with a muslim man named Oso who was the chief of his village. Kevin needed a place where he could board his horses. Oso had a horse and carriage business. Kevin suggested that Oso could use his horses for his carriage business if he would care for and board his horses. Oso agreed. For three years Kevin was faithfully living out loud with his friend Oso, sowing seeds of the gospel. Oso's spouse came down with cervical cancer and was in a cancer ward with forty-three other women suffering with cervical cancer. Oso feared he would loose her. Then Isa (the arabic name for Jesus) came to Oso in a dream and told him that his wife would leave the hospital. Only four of the forty-four women in that cancer ward left the hospital. All the others have since died. Having met with Isa and watching the miracle of his wife's healing, Oso ask Kevin to teach him in the way of truth. Kevin began discipling Oso. In time, Oso invited his household (his brothers and their wives along with friends in his village) to study the way of truth with him. Oso was a man of peace and a house church was birthed.
There is a question within the Discovery Bible Study Oso used with his household, "Who are you going to share this truth with?" This question urged the members of his church to share with their friends the truths they were learning. A woman responded positively and wanted to study the way of truth as well. Lani, Kevin's wife, began discipling her. She was a person of peace and in time a second house church was planted as this woman invited her household to study the way of truth with her. Two years later, twenty-four house churches are meeting together studying the way of truth through the Discovery Bible Study method. Muslims are becoming followers of Isa and are leading other Muslims in the way of truth to follow Isa.
Wow! I watched the Lord do a number of things in our two weeks in Southeast Asia as I taught God's word and Mary Lynne and I prayed for many, but seeing Luke 10 in action was the highlight of our trip.
